Child Care Centre Managers

Descriptions & Duties

  • Child Care Centre Managers plan, direct and evaluate the provision of care services for children in child care, after-school and day care centres. They are also responsible for developing educational programs and setting educational standards, preparing and maintaining records and accounts, establishing budgets and setting fees for programs, developing procedures to meet government rules and regulations concerning safety and security, handling related administrative tasks such as communicating among parents, children and staff, ensuring the safety and cleanliness of facilities, managing staff recruitment and development.

Education and Training

Child Care Centre Managers must have knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups of children, and the measurement of training effects.

General Requirements

Academic qualification

  • A higher diploma or an associate degree in childcare or early childhood education is usually required. Degree in relevant discipline is an advantage.

Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience
