Descriptions & Duties

  • Environmental Professionals study and assess the influences of human activities on the environment, such as air/ water/ noise pollution, soil contamination, climate change, toxic waste and depletion/ degradation of natural resources. They identify the problems and develop plans and solutions to protect, conserve, restore, minimise and prevent further damage to the environment. They also provide information and guidance to government officials, business sector, and the general public on possible environmental hazards and health risks.

General Requirements

Academic qualification

  • Normally have a bachelor's degree or master's degree in environmental science or a science-related field, such as biology, chemistry, physics, geoscience, or engineering. A Ph.D. is necessary for university research positions.  Holders of relevant higher diplomas can articulate to related degree programmes.
