  • Clerks of Works representing clients' (e.g., government or developers) interest, perform technical tasks to aid in construction works and help construction managers to ensure that the quality of both materials and workmanship are in line with design, including specification, engineering drawings, quality standards and building ordinances.

As leaders of construction projects at construction sites representing clients' interest, Clerks of Works must ensure that the projects at construction sites are properly managed from start to finish. They must coordinate effectively with different professionals and clients and have to make choices to ensure that the projects are well completed.

Clerks of Works must always apply professional knowledge and skills in relation to construction works to solve issues and problems at work.

General Requirements

Academic qualification

  • typically have a certificate or a diploma in building studies, building and construction technology or equivalent

Professional qualification

  • being Members of the Hong Kong Institute of Clerk of Works (MHKICW) are preferable

Experience

  • usually 3 years of working experience in various building construction industry are preferable
