Descriptions & Duties

  • Assists the employer and Safety Officer, where appropriate, in promoting the safety and health of persons employed in a workplace or a construction site. Advises employees on safety standards, and supervises the observance of such standards for the promotion of safety at work. Implementing industrial safety training.

Assistant Safety Officers / Safety Supervisors must ensure that occupational safety and health measures at construction sites are properly observed and followed from start to finish. They must coordinate effectively with professionals, peers, site supervisors and workmen to ensure that the projects are free from accidents.

Professional knowledge and skills in architectural design

Assistant Safety Officers / Safety Supervisors must always apply professional knowledge and skills about occupational health and safety to solve issues and problems at work.

Professional knowledge and skills in construction works

Assistant Safety Officers /Safety Supervisors must apply professional knowledge and skills in relation to construction works to solve issues and problems at work from time to time

General Requirements

Academic qualification

  • Completion of S6 under the new academic structure / S5 under the old academic structure, or equivalent; or
    Completion of QF Level 3 programme, or equivalent; or 
    Relevant RPL qualification(s) at QF Level 3 or above

Experience

  • Experienced in the work of the construction site and should have relevant knowledge; and 
    3 years or more of working experience in the construction industry
