  • Land Surveyors undertake the physical measurement of land and collate data for the preparation of plans and maps, including cadastral surveying for land registration, topographical surveying, geodetic surveying and hydrographic surveying.

To lead surveying projects, Land Surveyors must manage projects from start to finish. They must coordinate effectively with different professionals and clients and have to make choices to ensure that the projects are well completed on time and within budget.

General Requirements

Academic qualification

  • normally have a higher diploma or a bachelor's degree in surveying, or related discipline

Professional qualification

  • generally are registered professional surveyors under the Surveyors Registration Ordinance; usually are corporate members of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS) or Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).


  • usually 5 to 8 years of relevant working experience is required

Work Environment
