Musicians must have superior musical abilities and professional knowledge of musical theory like rhythms, harmonies, tempos, etc.

Musicians must be able to carry out musical performance before audience. They must endure regular practice and frequent rehearsal to improve their technique, style, and expression. They also need determination and perseverance to compete for performance opportunities.

General Requirements

Academic qualification

  • Many performers of classical music and opera may have a bachelor's degree in music theory or performance

Professional qualification

  • Associate diploma conferred by a recognised music institution through public examination is preferable

Experience

  • Usually learnt at least one instrument at an early age with extensive and prolonged training and practice to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to interpret music
