Manufacturing Managers

Descriptions & Duties

  • Manufacturing Managers plan, direct and control the production activities of the company, and take charge of the overall manufacturing programmes to ensure the maintenance of specified standards of quality, efficiency and economy. Their duties include establishing details of production activities in terms of output quality and quantity, cost, time available and labour requirements; monitoring the operation of production plant and quality procedures through planning of maintenance, designation of operating hours and supply of parts and tools; preparing and managing budgets, controlling production output and cost, and adjusting processes and resources to minimise cost; and implementing regulatory and statutory requirements that affect manufacturing operations and the environment.

General Requirements

Academic qualification

  • Normally have a bachelor's degree in business administration or industrial engineering.  Holders of relevant higher diplomas can articulate to related degree programmes. Sometimes, production workers with many years of experience may become a manufacturing manager.

Experience

  • at least 3-5 years' relevant experience is required
