Descriptions & Duties

  • Metal Moulders and Coremakers make moulds and cores for casting metal using various foundry equipment and machinery. Their duties include reading specifications and work orders; making moulds for casting metal; making cores for use in metal moulds; operating, monitoring and maintaining metal moulding or coremaking machines; repairing surface imperfections; smoothing and cleaning moulds and core boxes; examining product quality to verify conformance to specifications; moving or positioning work pieces using cranes.
