Descriptions & Duties

  • Publication Designers are responsible for design specifications for individual books and magazines. Commission illustrations and photographs. Mark up typescript for prepress and prepare rough page layouts and cover/jacket artwork. Prepare design work on publicity brochures and web page design.

Publication Designers should have the ability to communicate creatively by using creative visual and digital media. They should possess good artistic sense and be able to proficiently use design software to produce visuals, including images or videos involved with advertising, magazines, websites or packaging, as required by clients.

Work Environment

  • Publication Designers generally work in studios, some self-employed designers work independently at home. Sometimes have to work overtime or irregular hours, especially near deadlines.
