Trade Specific Competencies

Clerical skills

Typing, filing and record keeping are common tasks for Finance & Insurance Clerks.

Computer skills

To prepare records/ reports, Finance & Insurance Clerks must have good computer knowledge, e.g. MS office applications (mainly Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Chinese word processing, etc.

Mathematics skills

Finance & Insurance Clerks must have good basic mathematics skills to calculate charges.

General Requirements

Academic qualification

  • usually have secondary 5 or above education level. Holders of a Diploma/ Higher Diploma/ Associate Degree in Accounting or related discipline are advantageous. Passing the Insurance Intermediaries Qualifying Examination (Paper 1/2/3) is preferable (for the post of Insurance Clerk).

Experience

  • generally require 1-2 years' relevant working experience
