  • Fire Station Officers command and lead Firemen/ Firewomen in emergency and fire protection duties provide training for Firemen/ Firewomen. They are mainly deployed to take charge of a fire station or an emergency appliance and take part in administrative duties, such as staff management and planning duties.

Trade Specific Competencies

Fire fighting strategies and techniques

Fire Station Officers have to command the rescue efforts team in the scene of fire and leading the firemen to rescue people in the scene. They have to apply the fire fighting strategies and techniques in the scene and analyse evidence to determine a reasonable conclusion after the fire.

Knowledge of fire safety

Fire Station Officers have to prevent fire by identifying Fire Services Ordinance violations and recommend a way to fix the problem.

General Requirements

Academic qualification

  • A bachelor's degree; or higher diploma/ associate degree; or attained Level 3 or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE)

Other specific requirements

  • Level 1 in English & Chinese in Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) or Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSEE; pass an Eyesight Test; pass a Physical Fitness Test and job-related performance test; pass a Written Aptitude test; and pass a Practical Aptitude test
