Secondary School Teachers must be able to apply the education theory and teaching skills in nurturing secondary school students for betterment of academic and whole person development.

General Requirements

Academic qualification

  • generally hold a bachelor's degree of education from the Education University of Hong Kong, or a bachelor's degree in any subjects from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent

Professional qualification

  • must be registered under the Education Ordinance as either a registered teacher or a permitted teacher

Other specific requirements

  • normally have a post-graduate Diploma in Education, or equivalent; usually need to undergo a period of fieldwork, commonly referred to as student teaching. During student teaching, they work with a mentor teacher and gain experience teaching students in a classroom setting.
