Education Institution Managers

Descriptions & Duties

  • Education Institution Managers plan, direct and evaluate the educational and administrative aspects of education and training services in primary and secondary schools, tuition schools, community colleges, vocational education institutions, faculties and departments in universities and other educational/ training institutions. They are responsible for promoting the educational/training programmes to the general public, developing and enforcing disciplinary code, and handling other related administration tasks such as staff recruitment, supervision and development.

Education Institution Managers must have knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction, and the measurement of training effects.

General Requirements

Academic qualification

  • A recognised bachelor's or master's degree in a specific area of teaching/ training. For secondary school principals, they usually need to have a post-graduate diploma in education as well as a certification for principalship. For principals/heads/deans/registrars in post-secondary institutions or universities, they may also need to have a doctorate degree.

Experience

  • 5 to 10 years of relevant teaching/administrative experience
