Descriptions & Duties

  • Tourist Guides (Inbound) greet and accompany groups of tourists and others on sightseeing tours within a city, or to places of general interest and to monitor group members' activities to ensure compliance with safety practices. They will need to answer enquiries and handle complaints and to provide assistance as required including those with special needs, e.g. small children, elderly or disabled persons.

Trade Specific Competencies

Inbound Tourist Guides (Inbound) Accreditation System

Tourist Guides (Inbound) must be holders of certificates recognised by the TIC and must have a valid Tourist Guide Pass issued by the TIC.

Professional knowledge in Hong Kong

Tourist Guides (Inbound) must have adequate knowledge in culture, history and miscellaneous relevant information of Hong Kong.

General Requirements

Academic qualification

  • Secondary 5/ HKDSE or above

Professional qualification

  • Tourist Guides (Inbound) must be holder of certificates recognised by the TIC

Experience

  • 1 to 2 years' relevant working experience is preferable

Other specific requirements

  • Must have a valid Tourist Guide Pass issued by the TIC

Work Environment

  • Tourist Guides (Inbound) mainly work outdoors. They may work full-time or part -time depending on peak/low seasons. They usually work shifts, often including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays, they will spend many nights away from home. Usually stand and walk for long periods.
